The Sector Committee on Materials Technology | Material Testing advises DAkkS on technical requirements for materials testing and special detailed definitions required in the accreditation activities of inspection, testing and certification in the area of material testing. It is responsible for the development of separate technical requirements for conformity assessment bodies (CABs) arising from the special requirements in the area of material testing.
The committee is closely involved in the development of a harmonised and application-oriented regulation of the technical assessment of CABs and interprets the requirements from the accreditation standards in the subject-specific areas. The work of the sector committee is to produce the specific checklists, verification sheets and decisions in material testing that are binding for both technical assessors and the CAB. In addition, the committee also develops the specific technical requirements and criteria for appointment as a technical assessor in the area of material testing, defines the technical training principles for assessors and supports DAkkS in the subject area of material testing in annual training courses and in the exchange of experience between assessors.
A large number of the members of the Sector Committee on Materials Engineering / Material Testing have been working for several years and are therefore familiar with both the relevant technical problems and the accreditation process. In particular, the individual specialised fields (mechanical-technological testing, analytical material testing, operating behaviour and non-destructive testing) are adequately represented.
