Renewable Energy Sector Committee at a glance

This sector committee advises DAkkS on the accreditation of testing laboratories, certification bodies for products and inspection bodies in all areas of renewable energy which are seeking and are suitable for accreditation as a consequence of the requirements of the law on the development of renewable energy (German Renewable Energy Sources Act – EEG 2017) and other national or international requirements. Conformity assessment procedures are primarily concerned with wind energy and photovoltaics, but increasingly also with other principles of energy production (solar thermal energy, hydroelectric energy, ocean energy, internal combustion machinery (for example biomass), geothermal energy):

  • Type or component certification of mechanical properties of systems
  • Testing and certification of electrical properties of generating plants and generating units
  • Inspection of sites and installations with regard to wind potential, energy yield, noise emission and immission, shadow immission, turbulence intensity
  • Inspection of new or existing installations
  • Identification of offshore installations

The sector committee is made up of expert representatives of the various technical fields as well as technical assessors and conformity assessment experts from DAkkS. As a rule, they come from industry (network operators, Hanse e. V.), from the area of “standard owners and standardisation”, from regulators, certification bodies and laboratories and research institutions.
