Role of accreditation in this sector
In many areas of life, both accuracy of measurement and the measurement quality of examinations play a major role – for example in laboratory medical examinations. Participation in proficiency testing and the use of reference materials are important prerequisites for the quality assurance of testing laboratories that carry out these tests.
Accreditation fulfils a crucial function at this point. It is responsible for determining the competence of both proficiency testing providers and reference material producers, providing an important instrument for quality assurance of laboratories whose tests also constitute the basis for the work of other sectors – for example in the healthcare sector, the chemical industry, the food industry, the monitoring of drinking and process water quality and much more.
Proficiency Test | Reference Materials
Participation in proficiency testing and the use of reference materials are important prerequisites for the quality assurance of testing laboratories and their accreditation in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. In this department, horizontal regulations are drawn up with a view to harmonising international requirements and implementing them in assessments throughout DAkkS.
