Gabriel Zrenner re-elected to EA Executive Board for second term
At the General Assembly of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) in Luxembourg, Gabriel Zrenner, Head of Department at the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS), was re-elected to the EA Executive Board.
Re-election during EA General Assembly
DAkkS attended the EA General Assembly in Luxembourg, where it took part in discussions on the further development and strengthening of accreditation in Europe. Elections to the EA Board and various EA committees were held during the General Assembly. Gabriel Zrenner, Head of Department at DAkkS, was elected to serve a second term on the EA Board.
Gabriel Zrenner has been involved with EA for many years. He headed the Horizontal Harmonization Committee (HHC) for seven years, where his responsibilities included the harmonised implementation of Regulation (EC) No 765/2008. Zrenner has been a member of the six-member EA Executive Board since 1 January 2025.
Contribution to European cooperation
Gabriel Zrenner’s re-election reflects DAkkS’s ongoing commitment to European cooperation and to the further development of a harmonised, reliable and internationally recognised accreditation system.
At DAkkS, the aerospace engineer heads Department 1, one of four departments responsible for the technical implementation of accreditation procedures. The department focuses primarily on the accreditation of testing and calibration laboratories, as well as inspection, verification/validation and certification bodies. The department’s technical units handle accreditation procedures in the fields of metrology, construction, transport, energy and IT/cybersecurity.
Background
The EA is the umbrella organisation of national accreditation bodies in Europe and currently has 47 members. With Regulation (EC) No 765/2008, which is fundamental to the accreditation world, the European Commission has assigned important tasks to EA. These include, in particular, the organisation of peer evaluations to ensure the quality, transparency and independence of the European accreditation system. Furthermore, the EA promotes the harmonisation and further development of accreditation in Europe.
