Dr. Stephan Finke elected Chairman of the German Conformity Assessment Council
On 23 July 2025, Dr. Stephan Finke, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS), was elected Chairman of the newly constituted DIN KonRat. He takes up the office with immediate effect.
DIN KonRat advises the Presidial Board and other steering and working committees of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) on issues of conformity assessment. It also monitors European and international developments in this area and promotes dialogue between areas regulated by law and unregulated areas of conformity assessment. The goal is to ensure coordinated representation of German interests at the European and international levels.
The election of Dr. Stephan Finke, Chief Executive Officer of DAkkS, further intensifies the long-standing, close collaboration between DAkkS and DIN. “Working with committed partners, I look forward to further developing the strategic focus of DIN KonRat and strengthening Germany’s position in European and international committees,” says Dr. Finke.
At the same meeting, Heribert Schorn, Chairman of the Technical Advisory Board Conformity (TBKon) at the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (DKE), was elected Deputy Chairman.
Background
DIN KonRat was established in 1994 by the DIN Presidial Board. It provides a central platform for all interested parties in Germany to come together to discuss issues relating to conformity assessment. Members of DIN KonRat include representatives from industry, the testing and certification sector, the public sector and consumer organisations.
