Organisational structure The organisational structure of DAkkS at a glance
Organised into four technical departments, two service departments and five staff units we at the national accreditation body of the Federal Republic of Germany make a key contribution to our quality infrastructure – under our statutory mandate and in the interests of the government and the economy, and of protecting consumers and the environment.
Departments
The four technical departments of DAkkS are responsible for the technical implementation of the accreditation cases. They comprise 27 technical units at the three locations in Berlin, Braunschweig and Frankfurt am Main.
Department 1
The focus of this department is on accreditations of testing and calibration laboratories as well as inspection and certification bodies. The technical units within the department handle cases in the areas of metrology, transport, construction and energy.
Department 2
The focus of this department is on the accreditation of testing laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies, with a particular emphasis on installation and machinery safety, electrical engineering, consumer protection and material testing
Department 3
This department deals primarily with accreditations of testing laboratories and medical laboratories as well as inspection bodies and certification bodies. The department’s key areas of focus are medicine and health as well as food safety and management systems.
Department 4
The focus of the work of this department is on the accreditation of testing laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies. The department has a broad range of expertise. The areas covered include chemical products, water and the environment, but also employment promotion and procurement systems.
