DAkkS strengthens German-Indonesian cooperation in quality infrastructure
As part of the “Global Project Quality Infrastructure” (GPQI), an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS) attended the 3rd Annual Meeting of the German-Indonesian Working Group on Quality Infrastructure (QI) and other associated events in Jakarta in May 2026. Sabine Reinkober, Advisor for national and international accreditation policy at DAkkS, was present on site.
By participating, DAkkS followed up on the first GPQI visit to Indonesia in September 2024. The focus was already on key future issues, such as the digital accreditation symbol, the EU Battery Regulation and the requirements for accreditation and conformity assessment in the field of electromobility.
Exchange with industry, commerce and technical institutions
In addition to the official annual meeting with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, the programme included a variety of technical discussions and networking events. These included business roundtables with German and Indonesian companies, as well as chambers of commerce such as EKONID (AHK Indonesia) and EuroCham Indonesia. There was a special focus on the EU-CEPA trade agreement between the European Union and Indonesia, which was negotiated last autumn and is highly anticipated by the business community.
The German delegation also visited technical facilities and conformity assessment bodies in Indonesia. At the state-run BBKFK laboratory, Sabine Reinkober presented the “Digital Lab Hub” project. This project is funded by DAkkS as part of the “QI Digital” initiative and aims to support the digital transformation of laboratories in German-speaking countries.
DAkkS is actively driving forward digitalisation initiatives
The third annual meeting marked an important milestone in bilateral cooperation, with over 90 representatives from government, industry, and quality infrastructure bodies coming together to discuss shared challenges and future issues. The highlight of the annual meeting was the signing of the work plan for 2026 and 2027.
During the annual meeting, Sabine Reinkober presented the progress made so far on the digital accreditation symbol, drawing parallels with current developments in the digitalisation of quality infrastructure, in particular the QI Digital initiative and the digital product passport. In doing so, DAkkS underlined its active involvement in the international development of modern and digital quality infrastructures.

Joint solutions via personal dialogue
The week in Indonesia has highlighted just how important personal and professional exchanges are for the further development of common standards and solutions. Bilateral cooperation is particularly effective when it is based on shared objectives, practical requirements and mutual trust. DAkkS plays a key role in this, thanks to its international networking activities and its expertise in accreditation and digitalisation.
Background: Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI)
With the GPQI, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has been promoting the international harmonisation of quality infrastructure since 2017. With the support of GIZ, the German Society for International Cooperation, the project is currently being implemented in five countries (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico). Through continuous bilateral technical dialogues, the GPQI supports the reduction of technical barriers to trade and the improvement of product safety. The instrument of accreditation makes an important contribution to the worldwide acceptance of conformity assessment results and helps to promote international trade. DAkkS has therefore been actively involved in the GPQI for many years.
