DAkkS accreditation outside Europe: What conformity assessment bodies need to know
On 28 October 2026, DAkkS will once again invite conformity assessment bodies based outside Europe to its free web seminar, “Ready for DAkkS accreditation – Understanding the fundamentals for organisations outside Europe”. In a short interview, Dirk Kaufmann, Business Development Officer at DAkkS, explains what organisations outside Europe need to know about DAkkS accreditation, how the process works and why the web seminar is a valuable opportunity to learn more about DAkkS accreditation.
If my organisation is based outside Europe, can I apply for DAkkS accreditation regardless of where in the world I am located?
In general, DAkkS is able to provide accreditation services anywhere outside Europe as long as local laws and international accreditation conventions allow it, travel is not restricted and the necessary personnel resources are available. Ultimately, we review each application individually and decide whether we can offer our services, taking into account a range of relevant factors and circumstances.
To give you a sense of our international reach, we currently have customers in more than 30 countries around the globe.
Why should a laboratory or certification body located outside Europe consider DAkkS accreditation?
Firstly, DAkkS offers a wide range of accreditations, supported by our deep technical expertise. This means you have access to high-quality accreditation across a variety of technical fields.
Moreover, DAkkS covers areas and scopes that other national accreditation bodies might not handle. This isn’t only because some countries don’t have an accreditation body or lack expertise - sometimes, specific regulatory areas require accreditation exclusively from European accreditation bodies. DAkkS also enjoys an excellent global reputation for the quality and reliability of its accreditations. Some customers’ customers further down the supply chain may even prefer a DAkkS accreditation over other available accreditation. And finally, with DAkkS accreditation, you become part of the 'Quality Infrastructure - Made in Germany’ - an established international mark of credibility, trust and technical excellence.
What can participants expect to take away from the web seminar on 28 October 2026 – and who would benefit most from attending?
This web seminar is designed for organisations located outside of Germany and Europe that are interested in DAkkS accreditation.
So, this session is not aimed at German or European conformity assessment bodies as we will be looking at some important differences to our usual processes and procedures in Germany and the EU.
To give you an idea of our agenda: We will give participants a general overview of the basics of accreditation and also some practical guidance on DAkkS accreditation outside of Europe. We will start with some facts and figures about DAkkS, then look at what accreditation is and why it matters. Then, we will cover international recognition, followed by an overview of the accreditation process. We will explain the benefits of DAkkS accreditation, along with a look at costs and timelines, the necessary forms and our document search. And finally, we will leave some time for the questions from our participants.
Thank you very much for the interview!
