In both the legally regulated and non-regulated areas, this division deals with the accreditation of calibration and testing laboratories, inspection and certification bodies for products, processes and services of proficiency testing providers and reference material producers in accordance with the standards DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043 and DIN EN ISO 17034.

The “Measuring Instruments” department covers measuring instruments that are governed by the European legislative instruments 2014/31/EU (non-automatic weighing instruments) and 2014/32/EU (measuring instruments) as well as by German law relating to the making available on the market of measuring instruments, their use and verification, and prepackages (Measures and Verification Act – MessEG).

Construction Products / Construction / Fire Protection

The “Construction products” subject field deals with bodies that use accreditation as the basis for notification in accordance with the European Regulation on construction products (Regulation (EU) No 305/2011). In Germany, accreditation is a prerequisite for notification in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 305/2011. This applies to testing laboratories and certification bodies for products and certification bodies for factory production control.

Rail Transport

Testing laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies for products, operating in both the voluntary and legally regulated area, have their competence for their activities confirmed by DAkkS through accreditations in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065.

Automotive Engineering / Road Traffic

The “Automotive Engineering / Road Traffic” department is divided into three subject fields: “Periodic vehicle monitoring”, “Testing of vehicles and their parts” and “Toll collection and systems”.

Air Transportation and Shipping

The “Air transportation” subject field deals in particular with the accreditation of bodies that test or inspect the airworthiness of air sports equipment with a vehicle weight of up to 120 kilograms (such as paragliders or hang-gliders). Accreditations in this area are granted as an inspection body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 or as a testing laboratory in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025.

The “Shipping” subject field deals with bodies that certify marine equipment (such as rescue equipment, fire protection equipment etc.) and recreational craft or generally carry out tests in the area of maritime technology (such as strength of maritime structures, hydrostatic behaviour of hulls etc.). Accreditations are granted as a testing laboratory in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and as a certification body for products, processes and services in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065.

The “Mineral Oil / Operating Fluids Automotive” department is responsible for the accreditation of laboratories dealing with chemical and physico-chemical analysis of mineral oils and related products.

Renewable Energy

The “Renewable Energy” department organises the accreditation of testing laboratories in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, certification bodies in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 and inspection bodies in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 in all areas of renewable energies.

Anti-Doping Laboratories

This department provides the basis for the accreditation of testing laboratories that test various types of human and animal samples and food supplements for the presence of substances that can be misused for doping purposes.

Proficiency Test / Reference Materials

Participation in proficiency testing and the use of reference materials are important prerequisites for the quality assurance of testing laboratories and their accreditation in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. In this department, horizontal regulations are drawn up with a view to harmonising international requirements and implementing them in assessments throughout DAkkS.
