Structure of the department

The “Mechanical Quantities” department is divided into the subject fields “Mechanical measurands”, “Acoustic measurands”, “Flow measurands”, “Material testing machines” and “Measuring instruments for automotive engineering”.

Accreditations and conformity assessment bodies

Provides support with cases for calibration laboratories on the basis of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The “Mechanical measurands” subject field covers measuring instruments from the area of classical mechanical measurands such as force, pressure, acceleration and mass. The subject fields “Acoustic measurands” and “Flow measurands” comprise measuring instruments from their respective areas – such as microphones and flow meters for gaseous and liquid media. The subject field “Material testing machines” covers the calibration of measuring equipment components in material testing machines, such as force or length measuring equipment. The “Measuring instruments for motor vehicles” subject field deals with the calibration of measuring instruments relevant to automotive engineering, such as headlight adjustment systems, brake test benches and exhaust fume measuring instruments. In addition to gauging, legal provisions in place since 2019 also require the traceability of these measuring instruments through calibration.
