Structure of the department
This subject area is divided into the technical fields “Immission control” and “Dangerous goods”.
Accreditations and conformity assessment bodies
Subject to accreditation are the determination of airborne pollutants as well as noise and vibration in emissions and immissions, in particular within the framework of the module “Immission control, analysis of pollutants at the workplace and in indoor areas”.
The testing laboratories receive confirmation of competence for the implementation of measurements (sampling and analysis) in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 in the following areas:
- Area regulated by law: “Immission control module” taking into account the requirements of the 41st Federal Immission Control Ordinances (BImSchV), criteria of the Federal/Regional Working Group on Immission Control (LAI), VDI 4220, DIN 45688
- Area not regulated by law: Measurements of hazardous substances at the workplace in accordance with GefStoffV (Ordinance on Hazardous Substances), measurements of indoor pollutants and measurements of pollutants in emissions and immissions
Testing laboratories should be proficient in standards and VDI guidelines in the area of air pollution control, methods of IFA, the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance, NIOSH, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in the area of hazardous substances.
Under the 41st BImSchV, only bodies with a notification in accordance with Section 29b BImSchG (German Federal Immission Control Act) may carry out measurements within the scope of the immission control module

With its accreditation, DAkkS confirms fulfilment of the normative requirements with regard to conformity assessment activities to the conformity assessment bodies, and thus their technical competence.
