Focus of the technical unit
The work of this technical unit focuses on the accreditation of testing laboratories (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025), certification bodies for products, processes and services (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065), inspection bodies (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020), certification bodies for management systems (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021-1) and persons (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024) for conformity assessments, particularly in the following areas:
- Installations requiring monitoring (e.g. lifts, potentially explosive atmospheres and storage facilities for flammable liquids)
- Machinery and mechanical engineering
- Products including consumer products in the area of precision mechanics and optics
- Pressure equipment and vessels
- Explosion protection
- Gas appliances and pipeline systems

In certain areas specifically regulated by law, accreditation is carried out in consultation with ZLS, the Central Authority of the Federal States for Safety Engineering.
