Structure of the department

The explosive ordnance disposal subject area is divided into three technical fields: “Historical genetic reconstruction, aerial image analysis”, “Explosive ordinance detection” and “Planning and inspection services”.

Accreditations and conformity assessment bodies

The subject area is responsible for the accreditation of explosive ordnance clearance companies, geophysical detection in the context of explosive ordnance clearance in accordance with the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard, and engineering companies accredited as inspection bodies for their areas of expertise and the associated geophysical inspection work in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020. Activities in the area of explosive ordnance disposal are subject to the requirements of German law governing explosive substances (Explosives Act – SprengG) and the legal provisions of the federal states.

Benefits of accreditation

With its accreditation, DAkkS confirms fulfilment of the normative requirements with regard to conformity assessment activities to the conformity assessment bodies, and thus their technical competence.
