Department 4
The focus of the work of this department is on the accreditation of testing laboratories, inspection bodies and certification bodies. The department has a broad range of expertise. The areas covered include chemical products, water and the environment, but also employment promotion and procurement systems.
Technical units within the department
FB 4.1: Chemical Products and Combustibles
This technical unit issues accreditations for the sampling and analysis of chemical products and other products in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. The unit also handles accreditations in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021-1, DIN EN ISO 17034 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020.
FB 4.2: Water | Drinking Water | Water Supply
This technical unit covers a wide range of activities relevant to accreditation and relating to the characterisation, use and protection of water. Accreditations in accordance with for example DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, DIN EN ISO 17034 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020 are possible.
FB 4.3: Environment | Soil | Waste | Recycling | Internal Security | Explosives
This technical unit manages cases of accreditation for conformity assessment bodies whose responsibilities include the testing of waste for waste declaration covered by the German Waste Management Act (KrWG). Cases of accreditation in the areas of internal security and explosives are also processed. Accreditations are in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17034.
FB 4.4: Immission Control | Radiation Protection
The determination of airborne pollutants as well as noise and vibrations in emissions and immissions constitute the subject of accreditation by this technical unit. The unit also handles accreditations for analysis of pollutants, noise and vibrations at the workplace and indoors. The unit accredits on the basis of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020.
FB 4.5: Social and Educational System | AZAV (employment promotion) | Occupational Safety | PSA (Personal Protective Equipment) | Due Diligence
This technical unit handles cases of accreditation in the areas of education, occupational safety, personal protective equipment and due diligence in supply chains. DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021-1 and for persons in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024, (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025) as well as certification bodies for products (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065).
FB 4.6: Financial, Compliance, Competition and Procurement Systems | Data Protection | Health | Trade | Craft
This technical unit accredits on the basis of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021 and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024.
