Financing of DAkkS

DAkkS covers its expenditures mainly through fees and disbursements in accordance with AkkStelleGebV, the German ordinance on fees for accreditation bodies, and operates in a non-profit distributing manner.

Sources of financing at DAkkS

DAkkS renders the majority of its accreditation services in Germany and within the European Economic Area and charges fees and disbursements to cover the costs of its services in the statutory area. For accreditation activities in third countries, DAkkS receives income on the basis of private contract in the non-statutory area. In addition, the DAkkS receives funding from the federal government for activities in national and international bodies that are not factored into it fees. Expenditures for various international cooperation projects are financed through public funding of projects.

DAkkS offers regular information events and training courses for assessors, clients and interested parties and generates income from fees for participation.

Statutory activity

The German Act on the Accreditation Body and European Regulation (EC) Nr. 765/2008. constitute the legal basis for the statutory accreditation activity of DAkkS.

Fees are charged by time required on the basis of AkkStelleGebV, the ordinance on fees for accreditation bodies enacted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Disbursements are governed by BGebG, the act on fees and expenses for federal services. Fees are calculated to cover all personnel and material costs associated with “individually attributable public services”.

Non-statutory activity

DAkkS also carries out its accreditation activities outside the territorial scope of the Act on the Accreditation Body and Regulation (EC) No.765/2008. DAkkS charges the costs for these non-statutory accreditation services in accordance with a separate list of fees for activities abroad.
