The Accreditation Committee (AkA) is a DAkkS body consisting of approximately 230 members who are appointed by the Executive Board for a specific field of activity on the committee for a period of five years. Its composition may vary from process to process.
Duties
The Accreditation Committee decides whether accreditations of conformity assessment bodies are granted, maintained, suspended or terminated. The committee makes its decision in a specific accreditation process for a subject area. The decision of the Accreditation Committee is the prerequisite for issuing an accreditation decision and the accreditation certificate. It has the power to restrict the scope of accreditation and to require follow-up assessments on the basis of objective facts and circumstances. The members of the Accreditation Committee undertake to commit themselves to confidentiality and independence in the performance of their duties.
