Accreditation Advisory Board Committee at a glance

The Accreditation Advisory Board was established in 2010 at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on the basis of the Act on the Accreditation Body. The Accreditation Advisory Board supports and advises the federal government and DAkkS in questions of accreditation. It is not a DAkkS committee.

Duties

The Accreditation Advisory Board (AKB) has the following duties in particular:

  • To determine general or sector-specific rules specifying or supplementing the requirements, in particular arising from legal provisions, for CABs
  • To determine general or sector-specific rules specifying or supplementing the requirements, in particular arising from legal provisions, for accreditation activities
  • To promote the utilisation of accreditation as a confidence-building element of conformity assessment
  • To coordinate the German representation and attitude for the meetings of the European co-operation for Accreditation.
